2026 Coleman Creek Active 2026
Coleman Creek Fire is the 2nd-largest active wildfire in Oregon, burning 17 miles southwest of Vale.
Latest update
The Coleman Creek Fire started July 25 after a significant lightning storm moved through the area on July 22, producing thousands of strikes in eastern Oregon's Harney County. The fire - burning in grass, brush, and juniper - has pushed north and east with steady winds and a solid fuel load, reaching as far as Highway 20 and the small community of Juntura. Wind shifts and abundant vegetation also brought growth to the south and southeast in the first 48 hours, nearly circling around Warm Springs Reservoir and toward Riverside. The Coleman Creek Fire is burning in both Harney and Malheur counties, and both the Bureau of Land Management's Burns and Vale Districts.
