Grade Fire has burned 689 acres, burning 13 miles southeast of Aguanga, near East Grade Road, Northwest of Lake Henshaw.

SAN DIEGO, August 3, 2026 —Firefighters have made progress on the Grade Fire and Cleveland National Forest and CAL FIRE/San Diego units have begun to release resources from the incident.
The fire reached 689 acres and is currently at 100 percent containment. Firefighters were able to establish constructive containment lines, and the fire is holding within the current fire perimeter. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire is approximately 50 acres and is located on East Grade Road near Lake Henshaw and Highway 76. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there is no containment. There is one structure threatened and a full road closure on East Grade Road.
The Grade Fire is burning in medium fuels and brush vegetation with moderate fire behavior. The fire is burning in a north by northeast direction.
There are currently 9 engines, two hand crews, two water tenders, 4 air tankers, and two helicopters responding to the incident, with more resources being ordered.
