Latest update
The Kaiser Canyon Fire started from a lightning strike approximately a mile south of Nespelem, Washington on July 16, 2026, on the Colville Agency lands. Significant fire behavior has been observed due to shifting winds and hot, dry weather with the fire pushing past Owhi Flats into Ferry County and northeast of Nespelem towards Omak Lake. The primary goals of fire suppression on the Kaiser Canyon Fire have been structure protection, community and firefighter safety. Fuels are dry and susceptible to fire spread by wind and terrain features. Road closures and evacuations are in place near the fire perimeter; updates on closures and evacuations can be obtained here.
